Image of Ojai Valley Inn and Country Club Ojai CA

The Ojai Valley Inn and Country Club is located 75 miles north of Los Angeles off I-5. It's part of a 200 acre resort that was designed by George C. Thomas, who also designed the Riviera and Bel Air Country Clubs in Los Angeles. The course was part of the resort developed by the founder of Libby Glass in 1923. A classic setting, beautiful old hotel and well tended grounds. The original design has been changed a number of times, including the period when the US Army used the course as a training facility during WWII. In 1988, Jay Morrish added some additional features, and two original holes lost to the Army were reclaimed. At 6292 yards, par 70, the layout is routed through towering eucalyptus and oak trees routing through the canyons and creek-beds of the Ojai valley surrounded by the Topa Topa mountains. Great conditions, a little pricey, beautiful setting.

This resort golf course in the quiet valley of Ojai boasts one of the very few great nine hole loops under 3000 yards and is one of the best golf courses under 6,300 yards anywhere. The front nine is a shot maker’s paradise with only one long par four to speak of. The back nine loses some charm for the sake of difficulty until hole 16 where it combines both on the last three holes of the day. more at Golf18

Excellent experience, helps to have a goood short game, the greens are tiny, raised, and difficult to hold. Lovely course and setting, a little pricey, pace of play was right at 4.5 hours.

The golf course was in great shape, even after all the rain. Extremely challenging course, a bit short, but it doesn't need to be long with some of the tight, hilly fairways and small elevated greens. The front side gave us more trouble than the back, overall a good experience, although didn't see the cart girl until the end of the round.

Old style parkland type of layout, the front nine's much stronger than the back. Par 70, 6,000 yards, think you can overpower it, think again, small greens, tricky approach shots, 200 yard+ par threes, five par 4's over 400 yards, fast and sloping greens, you'll likely not shoot your handicap here.
