Occoneechee is located near I-85 and the interchange with U.S. 70, 15 minutes east of Burlington on Lawrence Road, and is close to Durham, Hillsborough, Burlington, Chapel Hill and the Research Triangle Park. The course was designed by Marvin Ray, the farmer who owned and farmed the land, and is not long at 6200 yards, 118 slope from the back tees. It's a mellow traditional course with tree lined fairways, water on 10 holes, and moderately rolling land with some elevation change. The greens tend to be on the small side, and it's lightly bunkered throughout the course. It has some interesting features such as double doglegs and tiered greens, and is usually in good shape. Nice folks running the course, and reasonable greens fees.

This is an great course to play. Challenging on some shots while others are easy. Very fare price. Their fall rates are $34 on the weekend and weekend twilight rate of $26. These prices include a cart. I play here all the time and love it! Fairways, tee boxes, and sandtraps look great. They have superb greens which are perfect for the fall weather.
