Oakhurst is 30 minutes from downtown Houston, just north of Kingwood, off the Eastex Freeway (59) to the west. The course is routed through a tightly packed residential community, with either homes or trees lining all of the holes. It's reasonably priced to play, conditioning is usually fair, and the pace of play well maintained. It can play as long as 7,000 yards or as short as 5,100 yards, we usually play from the Oakhurst tees at 6,242 yards, 69.0 course rating and a 119 slope. Very playable course, not overwhelming at all, the par 5's are drivable, the greens are open for the most part in the front, and there's some interesting risk/reward opportunities. It's not known as one of the higher end, challenging courses in the area, more of an ego builder where you'll likely better your usual score. It opened in the mid-1990's, designed by Dave Marr and Jay Riviere as part of the home development.
