Oak Point is at Kiawah on Johns Island. It's an open links style of course designed and recently renovated by Clyde Johnson, playing to 6701 yards from the back tees, 131 slope. Beautiful setting and challenging course, but not over the top. Wide open, wind is always a factor here with the course routed along the marsh areas, and through tree lined fairways with live oaks, magnolias, pines and palmetto palms and Haulover Creek. The course was built on the grounds of an old indigo and cotton plantation, and is a fairly level piece of ground. The course is maintained in the Kiawah tradition, as are the prices, but it's a nice change of pace from the other courses here. A little more strategic, enjoyable, and challenging.

OK golf course routed through housing just off the Island, not our favorite course, and probably weakest of the courses on Kiawah, but a nice warm-up for your first day here. Tough course to walk with the distances between the greens and tees.
