Oak Mountain is in the Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, off I-65, exit 246, just 15 miles or so south of Birmingham. The course was originally designed by Earl Stone and plays to 6842 yards, 120 slope from the back tees, and was updated and renovated a few years ago. Not a high end public course like the RTJ Trail course, maybe a step or so down, but still a good solid parkland course with tree lined fairways, and water in play on 9 of the 18 holes. A lot of strategic golf course management required here 6 holes dogleg left, and 7 holes dogleg right. but hardly any bunkers in play. The greens are good sized, moderately fast with nice undulations. It's got some hilly holes to it, but it's still very walkable and reasonably priced.

A fair test of links golf on a classic layout, a couple of blind shots, in very good condition, hidden adequately from Dublin, yet just a 10 minute ride to the airport Flag Content
Great, hidden gem links course just north of Dublin, and 15 minutes from the airport. Good conditions, interesting design, some difficult holes like the 225 yard 13th into the wind, driver didn't get it there.
