The Club is part of a residential golf community located at the southern tip of Lake Muskoka, directly across Highway 169 from the town wharf in Gravenhurst. It was designed by Doug Carrick and while not spectacular in all design features, it's a very creative design using the land as it's presented here. The course was woven through the bush, over rocky ledges and around wetlands to create the course. There's constant elevation confounding your decision on most shots, from tee to the approach to the green, whether it's your stance, or the real yardage to the hole given the elevation. There's several holes with very restricted landing areas, others more generous, same with the green sites, which are sometimes raised, and well protected, but any manner of hazards. .There are visual tricks and distortions as well, and throw in a couple of blind shots makes you want to play the course a second time. The bunkering is minimal and shallow, and filled with darker sand, and not really a big factor in play. The greens are also varied in style and are of medium size, but can be sloped, raised, and in a variety of shapes and angles. .It has a healthy course rating and slope of 76.1 and 146 from the tips at 7,367 yards, fortunately there were shorter options! Some holes take the driver out of your hands, others you can rip away. The par-3’s are all medium to long, and two of the par-5’s can be reached in two shots. Walking the course will be extremely difficult due to the terrain. The course is well conditioned, interesting and fun to play, but as I mentioned above, you'll enjoy more the second time around.

There are only one or two holes on the entire golf course that you will see another group of players. Many of the holes are cut into rock and through wetlands, just a great and unique layout. Each hole is different and challenging in its own right. A few of the holes that make this place so special and so memorable once you play it are #4, #9, and #17. These three holes you will not see anywhere else, just spectacular. The length is intimidating, but there's five different tee blocks so be sure to play from a yardage that's right for your game. The greens are large , sloped, and rolling with wide fairways which helped our errant shots. There's plenty of trouble in play, trees and bunkers, and just the wilderness bordering the course makes it feel very isolated. We thought it was more fun to play than The Rock and Taboo.
