The Mountain Dell Golf Course is a 36 hole complex featuring the Canyon Course and the Lake Course. It is located about 20 minutes east of St Lake City at the Exit 134 of Interstate 80. Situated at an altitude of 6,000 feet, the ball flies further here and it is generally 10 degrees cooler than at the Salt Lake City elevation. The course opened in 1962 and was designed by William Bell Jr, and is part of the Salt Lake City Golf course operations. Both course are routed through the high mountain rolling terrain in somewhat of a valley on the way to Park City. The course, in the morning and evening hours comes with any number of wildlife such as deer, elk, moose, eagles, hawks, badgers, squirrels, and an occasional cougar. The Canyon course stretches up the eastern mountain from the clubhouse before looping back, and you'll definitely need a cart. The Lakes Course was developed in 1991, and incorporated some of the original holes from the Canyon, and was designed by William H. Neff and PGA Tour player Mike Reid. The course features significant elevation changes with rolling fairways and dramatic tee shots over deep ravines and water, which place a premium on precision and accuracy. Both are very good courses, convenient to either Park City or SLC, and the price is very reasonable. Always in good condition.

The Canyon Course is a combination of parkland and mountain style courses, with a mile+ high elevation. Most of the course’s holes can be visually intimidating for the average golfer and the majority usually punish inaccurate tee shots. The first seven holes on the Canyon Course are where you want to score well on, cause from then on the course gets punishing. These initial holes, more parkland in style, weave back and worth around the clubhouse area and have plenty of open areas that allow for recovery from errant shots The final eleven holes work back up into the canyon with the prevailing wind at your back, only to turn around and head back down the canyon with the wind in your face. Course conditions from tee to green were generally good, the greens not the fastest, but difficult at times to read, as you constantly need to determine which way the mountain's running. There's almost 400 hundred feet of elevation change, and absolutely not walkable. Pace of play can be slow at times, there's no beverage cart, but a small snack bar in the clubhouse, so load up. Rates are reasonable, nice setting

Played the Lakes course last weekend, awesome scenery of the nearby Wasatch mountains. It also includes views of the original Pioneer Mormon trail as it makes its final approach into the Salt Lake Valley just prior to Emigration Canyon. The course covers a fair amount of ground and it seems some compromises were made to make the holes fit into a somewhat unconvential piece of property. It's definitely not walkable with the elevation change and the green to tee walks on a few holes. Tthe course doesn't play long at 6000 feet elevation, its narrowness in select spots keeps you honest. It features a bit of quirk including a massive elevated bunker...There are several interesting forced carries off the tee, including the 4th hole which is a "bite off as much as you can chew" par 4. The mildy undulating greens feature more break than they look and possess quite a few fall-off areas that can make for some interesting recovery shots. Bunkering is mostly minimal, and is often only bunkered around the greens. Fairways are a cross between mildy and severly undulating depending on which part of the property they sit on.
