Mountain Aire Golf Club

Mountain Aire is 30 minutes northeast of Boone in West Jefferson. Nice course and setting, scenic area, the only distraction are a few residential units on several holes. We played from the Blues at 6,400 yards, and found it to be a challenge with the hilly fairways lined with trees, and smallish greens. Some of the fairways were very tight, others where you were off line were recoverable. There were a moderate amount of bunkers, water hazards came into play on eight holes. The small greens were undulating, but were slow. Straightforward and playable layout, conditions were good, although we thought the rates seemed a bit high. The course has been around since the early 1950's, designed by Dennis Lehman, classic mountain golf course, good choice if you're in the area, and a nice drive out from Boone.
