Mt. Washington is in northern New Hampshire, and is a classic old hotel and four season resort. You don't have to be a guest at the hotel to play the courses here, but there's a slight discount They have an older 9 holer, built in 1891, which has been touched along the way by a variety of designers including Gene Sarazen, Ken Venturi, and more recently Brian Silva to finally restore the course. It's set along the Ammonoosuc River, and is a nice traditional course of 3500 yards, par 35. The 18 hole championship course was designed by Donald Ross in 1915, and is a par 71, 6638 yards, 118 slope from the back tees. It was restored by Brian Silva to its original design in 2008. The result was a lot of restoration of Ross's original plans, trees removed, bunkers returned to the Ross design,, and reconditioning of the small to mid-sized greens. Fantastic setting with Mt Washington in the background. Nice rolling land, challenging, yet not unfair course in a resort setting. A little expensive, but very well done, and cared for, and first class service.

Played a couple of years ago, and the course seemed to be going downhill, but just this week we found the course has been greatly improved! The fairways and greens were in great condition; the landscaping was beautiful and fit in perfectly with the area. We played on a clear day with the foliage starting to peak. The bright red, yellow and orange leaves of the trees, the view of the Presidential Mountain range and the beautiful blue sky framed each hole and gave us breathtaking views of the area. The course is fun with some challenging holes but the course is clearly designed for the enjoyment of golfers at all levels. Great place to enjoy the Fall colors and now a great round of golf at a reasonable rate.
