Moody Gardens used to be Galveston Municipal. They spent some money and had Jacobson Hardy as the architect redesign the course and improve the facilities. It's an open links-style of layout with a lot of water in play, and is usually windy here. From the back tees, it's 6,900 yards, 72.6/127 ratings, and is usually fairly well maintained, but operated with a muni-style of service and hospitality. It's the only public golf course in the Galveston area, so I guess it's the best, but I don't believe their ratings as one of the best in the Houston area. In the summers the mosquitoes are the golf course's main defense, be sure to bring plenty of DDT with you!

played last week and it was in great shape. Still an island course and pretty short. Windy and flat, a few blind tee shots, greens rolled nicely. You can "see" the money they put into it.
