Mid Pines is part of the Pine Needles resort and other golf course, and is an original Donald Ross, built in 1921, and not much has changed over the years, except the trees have grown in. Beautiful course, challenging parkland design with the original Ross design elements, small and raised greens, deep bunkers, and parkland style layout. Extremely well maintained, service at the club, hotel, and golf course all impeccable. The course plays to 6528 yards, 127 slope from the Blue tees. Both courses, and staying at the resort is the way to go in Pinehurst, and is a nice alternative to staying at Pinehurst, unless you want to play #2.

I arrived as a single and the staff had no problem getting me in with a group on a Saturday morning.Had heard some not so nice things about the course, but found all that to be untrue. Good thick grass on the tees and fairways and it was cut nicely. The greens were nice and rolled true and were cut nicely at what I'd call a medium fast speed. The bunkers all had the right amount of sand and were nicely maintained, no grass growing in them and had been smoothed mechanically that morning. Price was not out of line for the area, I would go there again.
