7164 yards and 122 slope from the back tees, it's a muni, but a classic golf course. Designed by John Bredemus, a mostly Texas golf course architect, the course at one time hosted the Houston Open from 1951-1963. It's busy, slow, and cheap. It was redesigned by Dave Marr in 1995 and five holes were lengthened, and a few tee boxes were widened, and trees thinned through the fairways and near the greens. It's mostly long and straight, but the trees come into play for the truly errant shot. Rough is cut close to speed play. Beyond length, Memorial requires a strong short game. Its green complexes are just that, complex, and pin placements can be a bit unfair. It stays in reasonably good condition, considering the heavy play.
