Meadowbrook is off I-75 at exit 380/39th St to the west, routed through a residential community on the northwest side of Gainesville. The course was designed by Steve Smyers in 1987, very affordable, and a good quality layout. Scenic course, even though there's houses bordering some holes, but lots of trees, changes in elevation. Not a high end course or facility, and conditions aren't top notch, but it's a good value for the money in the Gainesville area. It's not a typical Florida development course, flat with water and sand, but has rolling hills, tree lined fairways with creeks lining the holes, almost a Carolina Mountains feel to it. It's a little unusual with the layout in that there's 6 par 3's, 6-par 4's, and six par 5's. It's a relatively short course at 6,300 yards from the back tees with a 70.8 course rating, and a 129 slope, but plays much tougher than the ratings. Not a great course for the higher handicapper or beginner.
