The course is located south of Bremerton in a housing development. From the back tees, it's 7,040 yards, 135 slope, and was designed by Jack Frei in 1986. It's a scenic course with great views, except for the houses lining some of the fairways. You need to play it a couple of times to understand the best strategy for some of the holes. Doglegs, mounded and sloping fairways, a good amount of water, and small to mid sized fast greens make it a challenging layout. Tree lined fairways, a great view of Mt Ranier on the 15th, just a good solid Northwest type course at a reasonable rate.

Compared to the Olympic Course and Trophy Lake, McCormick woods is probably the least desirable of the three. McCormick has some really fun golf holes that are well designed, it also has some holes that started off as a solid idea but just have some big flaws. There are quite a few holes where you really shouldn't hit driver, even from the Black tees because hitting it 280 plus will get you into a mess even if you hit it relatively straight. When the greens are well maintained, there are a few interesting slopes, most of them are somewhat elevated and protected. The course is mostly lined by trees. The front 9 is surrounded by homes for most of the holes, but the back 9 is much more secluded and beautiful. Most of the greens are well maintained, the tee boxes are uneven and are often just destroyed with divots. If you are a short-ish and accurate hitter, bring your bomber friends, and the golf course and you will win.
