Lost Marsh is in north Hammond near the lake, surrounded by an industrial area. The course is a landfill reclamation in 2003, and was designed as a links style course by Charles Howard. The front nine is wide open, a nice warm up for the tougher back side with water in play. From the back tees it's 6600 yards, with a 72 course rating and 130 slope. The course is only 30 minutes from downtown Chicago via the Chicago Skyway and Indiana toll road, exit at Cline Ave, and is down the street from the Horseshoe Casino and the Hammond Marina. It's a challenging course, well maintained, and scenic with all the wetlands, and only a couple of parallel fairways. Pace of play is usually long here, and my only problem with the course. They also have a 9 hole par three course here as well.
