Lost Creek is up in Heber Springs, about 1 hour 45 minutes north of Little Rock. The course is a traditional style of layout with tight tree lined fairways, and a lot of water, in play on all but 6 holes in some way, shape, or form. From the back tees the course is rather short at 6,239 yards, par 71, 70.0/113 ratings, and opened in 1992. Good value for the quality of the course, greens were good sized, fast with a lot of break. The routing was tricked up a bit, it helps to play with a local or to have played it before to get a sense for the routing. Very well maintained, nice staff in the clubhouse, and pace of play was well maintained, but it does get busy and slow on the weekends in the summer.

The course was not in the best of shape this weekend, a victim of the dry weather. All fairways had large areas of dead grass, the tees were also beat up badly, the greens had recently been aerated, not sanded properly, and repaired ball marks were not recovering. Most traps were like waste areas with numerous rocks and erosion marks. On the positive side, snack bar was good, all staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was good

I like this course, routing is a little tricky, but just follow the signs and you won't have any trouble. There are some risk-reward shots over the water, if you are brave enough. I thought it is a real good course for the price. I have paid more for a course that was not near that well kept. I have played it several times and the greens were always in good shape and rolled true. I'd give it a good 2 1/2 stars.
