Los Verdes Golf Course is located at the west end of Hawthorne at Palos Verde Drive on the far west side of Palos Verde, about 20 minutes from LAX. It's a city owned golf course designed by the old California master Billy Bell with some of the better views of the Pacific of any golf course in the state...certainly the lease expensive of the lot. It's routed above the cliffs in Rancho Palos Verdes, and is parkland style, 6617 yards, 121 slope. It's always crowded here, and tough to get a tee time, but I've always had luck just showing up as a single, and generally get in with another group. It definitely doesn't have the panache or beauty of Sandpiper or Torrey Pines, and the summer fogs can sometimes hides the Pacific, until you get to 15, which is the signature hole. Just OK conditions, and it's always slow, so just plan on a 5 hour round, and you won't be disappointed.

Came across a great course in Rancho Palos Verdes that I played this morning and it only cost me $37 with a cart! That is just about the best deal in Southern Cali for a golf course period let alone a golf course with immaculate greens and a view comparable to Pebble Beach! I highly recommend getting out there and chasing the ball around if you live anywhere in the surrounding 5 million miles! I
