Jack Nicklaus designed course, known as Jack's sandbox, target style of course with narrow fairways surrounded by sand, both waste area and large conventional bunkers. Impossibly difficult for the high handicapper, plays to just over 7,000 yards, 141 slope from the tips, but has three other sets of tees. Probably one of the toughest golf courses in the Myrtle Beach, nice conditions, and good service in the clubhouse, and would play again.

One of the more challenging courses we played while in Myrtle Beach, a lot of use of the rescue clubs if you didn't keep it on the short hairs. Tons of sand, waste and conventional. We particularly like the par threes because of the beauty, especially nice is the island green of number 13. Good shot selections are necessary. Distance is good but being in the fairway is better. You must have patience at Log Bay. Extremely well conditioned, a true shotmaker's course to be sure.

Bill Meader just played Long Bay last week and playing it again with a friend this week. I love shot makers courses! No bomb and gouge on this one. My favorite so far since moving to Myrtle Beach is Founder's Bay but TPC comes a close second.

It's a great course but I think Nicklaus designed it for himself, if you can't hit the ball high and land it soft, you'll have a tough time. There wasn't a weak hole on the golf course, keep trying to think of a dud and there wasn't one. The course is very solid and scenic, and a great challenge. It's top-notch. Everything is well bunkered and that's typical of Nicklaus. The sand was excellent, the bunkers had the best sand of any I've played down here. Most of the holes are tree-lined but there are ample landing areas off tees aside from fairway bunkers or water. When water is present it usually comes into play, and is in play on 7 holes. There aren't many flat areas on greens, most are protected on several sides by bunkers, including front and back. This course tries your patience, you have to take what it gives you. One thing I like about the course is you can see everything in front of you. The greens that were particularly shallow weren't soft enough to hold shots from average golfers, there were a little to severe on a few holes.
