The Lodge of Four Seasons is a full blown resort and spa in the Lake of the Ozarks, about three hours west of St. Louis. There's 54 holes of golf here, but the Nicklaus course is private, and only available to Lodge guests. The three courses here are all highly regarded parkland style, tree lined and hilly fairways with a good number of water features, and all very scenic. The Cove, which is the original course, was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and is a par-71, 6,557 yards from the back tees, great set of par 3's, and very well bunkered. The Ridge was designed by Ken Kavanaugh and has some great elevation change, maybe a little easier than the Cove with good sized landing zones, large, undulating greens, a very fair and scenic course. The Club at Porto Cima is the private Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, and is across the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge on the Shawnee Bend. Didn't have the opportunity to play there, but if it's anything like the quality and conditions of the Cove and the Ridge, it has to be fantastic.

Although the fairways and rough are in reasonable shape, the greens, traps, and tees need a lot of work before next spring. Greens had a lot of bare spots and were recently aerated without a significant level of sanding. Traps were rock hard and had apparently not been "worked" for a couple of weeks. Staff was friendly and helpful but very limited (one person ran clubhouse and the snack bar). Layout is good, so I hope the course comes back next summer

Enjoyed the Ridge, only had time to play one course and it was recommended as the one better for my game. Excellent hole design, a lot of elevation change, well conditioned, and pace of play was up to us, there was no one in front of us all day. Staying at the Lodge was great, upscale, but not over the top, nice scenery, service was attentive, will be back later this fall.
