Lodestone is the newer course at the Wisp Resort in western Maryland. It's routed over and around the lower part of the ski resort, and was designed by Hale Irwin, playing to just over 7,500 yards from the Irwin tees, 5,300 from the red tees. While it's a fairly new course, it's growing in nicely and was in good condition this past summer. It's a fun course to play, but challenging. We've played from the front member tees at 6,300 yards with a slope of 128 and a course rating of 69.5, and it's plenty of course. It has a lot of elevation change throughout, including a 110-foot drop from tee to green on 13th hole. Nice views of the mountains and Deep Creek Lake, it's a real mountain course with tree lined rolling and sloping fairways, rock outcroppings, heavy bunkering, and is very challenging. It's expensive, especially on the weekends, but conditioning and the clubhouse facilities were very well done.
