The course was designed by Willard Byrd and is on Pawleys Island, and was one of the first courses built in the area. The course is of more classic design with narrow fairways, sharp doglegs, playing to smallish greens. It plays to an overall yardage of 6752 with a 130 slope from the tips. Impeccable conditions are service is over the top.

This reminded us of an old-style country club nice old style grounds and clubhouse, It is generally flat and the layout lends itself to walking because all tee boxes are just off the previous green. Walking is allowed anytime. Fairly tight but most holes have ample width in landing areas off the tee. If you miss a fairway, however, out-of-bounds stakes are close to a number of fairways and greens. There are also numerous pockets of water lurking on the sides of or just off fairways. Every hole has at least one greenside bunker and there are also a fair amount of fairway bunkers, though few are difficult to escape and the sand is consistent. The greens are on the small side but not tiny, and have slopes that are mild, and rolled very well. Few holes are straight. There are seven holes that turn left compared to four that turn right, and the dogleg lefts are often sharper. Great old style course, you'll enjoy it more if you can work the golf ball.
