Links on the Bayou is a muni, owned by the City of Alexandria, and is located just south of the airport on Bayou Rapides Blvd. It's a wide open, links-style of layout over and around wetlands on at least half the holes, and designed by Mike Young. The tips are 6,800 yards with a 136 slope, we usually play from the Blue tees at 6,252 yards, 70.8/128, and find it a strong challenge. Rates are reasonable, there's a break for seniors, and late afternoon and mid-week play. Very busy on the weekends, otherwise the pace of play is usually around 4 hours. Conditions are always good, save the shoulder seasons, and the greens run true and fast. Fun course, but be prepared to loose a few balls to the water. Bayou and Oakwing are the best choices for public golf in Alexandria, but the Bayou is more reasonably priced.
