The Links at Gettysburg was designed by Lindsay Ervin and is a links type layout with the wild grasses bordering the fairways and the open holes. It's not far from the Civil War battlefields and other places of historical interest, and is in a very scenic location. It has some good elevation changes, with elevated tee boxes that give some great views of the countryside. The course has red cliffs, rock walls, and red-sand bunkers that make a good contrast with the bentgrass greens, fairways, and tees. The rolling terrain has 14 lakes and streams, which come into play often and the course plays to 7031 yards from the back tees with a slope rating of 140, and seems like a "battlefield". It's a little bit of a solemn experience playing at the site of such carnage in Civil War battle here, and you have to pause for sure, out of respect for those who fought the terrible battle. If you miss the fairway, you end up in the deep rough, and there's a few forced carries off the tee as well as some blind shots and doglegs. Enjoyable course, excellent conditioning, and good guest service in the clubhouse.
