Legacy Ridge is in the north Denver suburb of Westminster, off 104th Avenue, off either I-25 or Denver/Boulder Turnpike. The course, like so many in Denver, is routed through a tightly packed housing development, and is a muni, designed by Arthur Hills, playing to 7,157 yards, 144 slope from the back tees. Reasonably priced course, but I think it’s a bit too difficult for a muni, which seems like should benefit the residents of the community. This course is good for the single digit golfer, but tough on the rest of us. Some tricked up holes, blind shots, hilly and sloping fairways make it tough to keep the ball in play. Extremely well conditioned, good sized greens, well bunkered, with the fairways surrounded by tall prairie grasses that get fairly tall in the summers.

This is one of my favorite golf courses in Colorado. It's an extremely well-maintained golf course that will give you the feel of playing a private country club. I would call this a target golf course, as accuracy with your tee shots and approach shots are primary. There are not a lot of places to bail-out on most holes, and in the middle of the season, the rough is a beast. The back nine is tougher than the front with a lot of elevation changes and sloped fairways. It's very rare to have a flat level lie anywhere on the back nine. Every time I've played it (which is too many to count), the greens are well manicured and roll fast and true. You should show up extra early to the practice green to get a good feel because when they are running lightning-quick, it's a challenge not to three-putt.

This is one of our go-to courses in the area, a major golf course factory with the 18 hole The Gold Course, a 9 hole regulation course (The Blue Course), and two par 3 courses (The North and The South). Always in good shape, nice clubhouse facilities, and good service. It's more of a target style of layout with the front side a nice warm up to the tougher back where there's more elevation change. The greens are slick and undulating, all you need to top off the challenge.

Great course value! Nothing overly special as far as conditions, but for a public course on the weekend, it exceeded my expectations. We played a four hour round, and paid $48. The course makes you use all of your clubs, and has some elevation changes. It was one of the only courses that had tee times available for mid morning on Saturday with perfect weather. Definitely check this course out!
