Legacy Golf Club is east of I-75 in a planned development community of Lakewood, and is a Arnold Palmer designed course of 7100 yards, 140 slope from the back tees. A typical Florida real estate development course with water and sand everywhere, but on steroids, thanks to Palmer. Water of all but one hole, a lot of risk/reward shots, well designed and challenging to play, even has a island par three. There has to be 100+ bunkers here, fairways and greenside, large and fingered. The greens are mostly large, undulating, and medium speed. Well conditioned, slow play in the winter, better rates off the peak times. Best course in Sarasota/Bradenton area.

Sad to say Legacy is in pretty rough shape than what I've been used to. Played there last week and its headed south in a hurry. Tee boxes were awful. Many areas just off the fairway were overgrown with weeds. Sand was non – existent in most bunkers. Greens were decent.

Some super holes, especially par-3s over water, make this tough test worthy of several journeys over its dramatic 18 holes. Great clubhouse, professional staff, nice warm-up area top it off.
