Lander Golf and Country Club is on the southeast side of Lander on Main Street, near the airport. It's about 2 1/2 hours due west of Casper, not really on the way to anywhere. It's at about 5,500 feet in elevation, so the ball flies a little further here, nice setting for the golf course. It's an old course, been here forever, from the tips it plays to 6,574 yards, par 71, 70.3/123 ratings. Two completely different worlds. Front 9 is parkland style. Purely ball position course without any regard to distance. The greens tend to be very small, and are sometimes fast and always sloped enough to be quite cruel. Back nine is more links style with no trees, higher 'waste' grass areas. Slightly more mellow greens. Conditioning is 'year to year'. Good winters improve conditions, bad winters make some areas of the fairway pretty harsh. Conditioning is the biggest challenge at this altitude/climate.

Views are excellent. Overall, definitely worth a stop on your way to/thru Yellowstone &/or Grand Teton.

Course was in good overall condition. Greens were in very good shape. We started on the back 9 and we breezed thru it in about 1hour 30 min. Not bad for a threesome. took a little longer on the front side but finishe entire roun in about 3 hours 50 min. Staff was great and at $30 dollars ,was a great value. We reealy enjoyed it. Give it a try.
