Great golf, by Robert Trent Jones Sr, opened in 1969 within Reno city limits, the course plays to 6715 yards, 130 slope from the back tees, and is a reasonably priced alternative for the area. Great views of Reno and the surrounding mountains, lovely conditioning, and even has an island par 3, #15 with 140 foot elevation change from tee to the green surrounded by Lake Stanley. The design features include Jones's trademark sculptured bunkers, slightly raised greens, a good amount of water features, lightly treed, and just a lot of bunkers. Fairly forgiving off the tee, the approaches to the greens are the test, either water or bunkers protected, the putting surfaces are mid-sized, light undulations, and have good speed.
