Ladybank is located within 20 minutes of St Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland, and is one of the Open qualifying courses when the Open is held at the Old course. While not a links style course, this parkland course does has some of the characteristics of a links with its sandy soil, constant fairway undulations along with the ever present gorse and heather running just off the fairway. It is a parkland style in the midst of a forest. The course was first laid out in 1879 by Tom Morris, first 6, then nine holes, and finally became 18 in 1958. It was the setting for a match with Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros in 1983, which was supposed to be played at the Old Course, but was booked with an event. Well regarded by the locals, but for me traveling all the way over here, I want to play the links.
