Lacoma is east of Dubuque on the Illinois side, overlooking the Mississippi River. It's located 15 miles from Galena, and just a five-minute drive from downtown Dubuque. It's a parkland style of layout with two 18-hole courses and a 9-hole par 3 course. The Red Course, a nine holer designed for the intermediate level golfer is in a lightly wooded area and is a good combination with the Gold Course which is without much in the way of trees or challenge, and designed for beginners and intermediate level players. The Blue Course is 18 holes at 6,800 yards from the back tees is the quality championship course here for the better golfers is routed through heavily forested area. It was designed by Gordon Cunningham in 1967, and has ratings of 71.8/118 from the back tees. There's also a nine hole par three course, great for working on your short game, before or after a round on the big course. The facility offers golf for all levels of play, is maintained in reasonably good conditions, and has some of the more reasonable rates in the area.
