La Quinta Resort has five courses, all fantastic in their own way with great scenery and facilities, and quality of the golf course conditioning. The Mountain Course is 6700 yards, 140 slope from the back tees, and was designed by Pete Dye. The course is hard up against the mountain, and if you haven't played desert golf before, this is fairly standard. It's a good solid layout, fairly penal with Pete Dye's typical design features. The front nine is a little disappointing as it's routed through some housing, but the back opens up with some great views and holes. The greens were soft, and putted true, all in all good solid course, not sure it merits it's national rankings.
