Three Jack Nicklaus designed nine hole layouts here all measuring around 3500 yards from the back tees. The Hill course is 144 slope, the Canyon, 149, and the Ridge, 154 slope. The course is part of the Westin resort, where you need to be staying to play, and is located in the north of Tucson with views over the city. I believe it was Nicklaus's first desert course design, and it's desert golf at it's most extreme. Every tee shot requires a carry over something, whether it's gulches, arroyos, desert vegetation or craggy rocks, and is real target golf. You have the desert wildlife abundant here with roadrunners, quail, ground squirrels and an occasional coyote or gila monster, and in the early evening, the javelina, a big rodent which looks like a pig. The course is routed with narrow fairways with mounding and banking, playing to soft mid-sized greens with a good amount of undulation. Great customer service, and conditioning of the course, just bring your A game. One of the more difficult courses in the area
