Kokopelli Golf Club is a 25 minute drive from on I-15 from St. George, north to the Hurricane exit SR 9, then east East. The course is about 7 miles of Hurricane on HWY 59 in a to be developed residential community. All 18 holes are now open and growing in nicely. This course is located in the midst of Zion, Bryce and The Grand Canyon National Parks, with stunning views of Zion, Gooseberry Mesa, and some of the most incredible and unique sandstone formations you will ever see. We found it definitely worth the drive up from St. George, the setting for the course and on the drive there, especially in the early morning. The course has five sets of tees from 5,600 to 7,600 yards, we played from the Whites at 6,659 yards, 72.8/133 ratings, and it's a challenging course. The course is routed through the desert scrub, arroyos, over streams, through waterfalls, rocks and boulders just a unique setting, and plays tough, where both course management and distance helped to score well. On the way back to St. George, we stopped by Grafton, the ghost town where they filmed Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, nice side trip.

It is a magnificent setting and almost every hole has been thought out to encompass as much of the surrounding southwest beauty as possible. The greens are huge and undulating and multi-tiered. In fact one short par three is built halfway up a cliff with a crystal clear brook cascading down the side and around the green. The greens, the fairways and even the driving range were nothing but spectacular thick green grass. Sure the greens were as difficult to navigate as ever, but the conditions of the course more than offset the putting issues. This is our fourth time here and each time I have played better,”

While brand new, this is definitely a winner...The card has yet to display a slope number, and I hope it does not top 150. Unbelievably beautiful golf holes that are as challenging as any in Utah or Arizona. The staff is extremely friendly and at all times very helpful to insist that all playing golf have a wonderful time. Make certain that you have the right club for the Par 3 Fifth hole and hold your breath when you hit shots over the lava canyon on the back nine. This course is exquisite and will receive accolades in the near future. Don't miss it!

They actually have 18 holes open now, even though it's a bit rough given it's a new golf course. Played for $45 all day with lunch, going back next week for their afternoon rate of $30! Fun course, interesting layout, beautiful setting, it will be a winner once it grows in. With all the great golf St George has, this one is a nice addition at a reasonable rate. Just don't expect pristine conditions for a while.
