Keswick is east of Charlottesville by 10 minutes, off exit 129 of I-64. The original course was developed in the 1930's, and designed by Fred Findlay, and was then redesigned by Arnold Palmer. From the back tees, the course is 6500 yards, 130 slope, and is a challenging, and well conditioned parkland style of course in the Blue Ridge Mountain's foothills. The course is part of a resort hotel development, very upscale, with expensive greens fees. The routing is over rolling fairways surrounded by trees, and water in the form of lakes and streams, and is well bunkered throughout the fairways and around the greens.

Had the opportunity to play Keswick this week on a beautiful crisp Fall day. First time ever on the course and found it to be a difficult course with the elevation changes, and the woods, not to mention water and sand! Keswick has five par fours that are just excellent, Nos. 7 and 10 and No. 13 through No. 15, where the longest approach club a player is likely to need would be a 9-iron. But they’re not easy. The tee shots demand careful club selection. The approaches must be precise. The greens are well contoured, bunkering is deep and the sand is coarse-grained and consistent. Keswick Hall earned an A in my rating system. I would have been happy to play it again.
