Just across the bridge in Destin, a real estate development course, designed by Couples and Gene Bates in 1998. You gotta like Freddy's courses, and this one is no exception. It's carved out of a turpentine plantation and what's left is a series of holes routed through stands of pines, bordered by lakes and wetlands on 15 holes, with sugar white sand bunkers protecting the fairways and greens. The greens are large, slightly breaking, and the wind is always a factor here. It plays to 7,099 yards 149 slope, and 73.8 handicap from the back tees, but there are four sets of tees. A nice alternative to the other Destin area courses. Greens fees range depending on the season.
