Jack Frost National is about 20 minutes south of Wilkes Barre, on the east side of the I-80 and I-480 intersection in Blakeslee. The golf course opened in 2007 and still has some growing in to do, but it's an excellent layout, and very challenging. It was designed by Terry Lagree, par 72, and is 7,256 yards from the tips, 74.9/139, and can play as short as 5,100 yards. We thought it was in good shape for as new as it is, you can certainly see areas where it needs to grow in a bit, but overall it was fine. It's a mountain style of course, hilly, and tree lined fairways, at the crest of Jack Frost Mountain and 2,000 feet in elevation. The front side is a nice warm up for the much more difficult back side. Mostly open off the tee, but on approach to the greens is where you can loose strokes. The greens are hard, fast, and a lot of sloping and undulation, definitely breaking with the mountain slope. All around great course, better for the lower handicappers, reasonable rates, and 4 hour pace of play.

Jack Frost just doesn't get me all that excited, I've played it a few times recently, and it just isn't the course that either Mountain Valley or Mountain Laurel are, and at lower greens fees. Conditions weren't all that good for the cost to play here, think I'll skip it for a while.
