Iron Valley Golf Club is just of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at exit 266, close to Harrisburg maybe 30 minutes. It was designed by P.B Dye and plays to 7026 yards, 138 slope from the back tees. The course is a former iron ore mining ground and has great elevation changes. Dye didn't disturb much of the natural lay of the land here and created a very challenging layout with some fairways narrowing, humps, and hollows affecting the ball's direction. It's a great course and price, unusual to find one like this in Lebanon, PA. Each hole is unique and presents a different challenge, and it's fairly well maintained. Make sure you select the right tees for your game, because the fairways do run out if you're too long, and there's a good amount of trouble just off the fairway. Unbelievable views from nearly every tee box and green. Dye's famous for his difficult greens, and these with multi-tiers, sloping, and sometimes shaped like mushrooms can eat up the strokes. Like any well designed course, good shots are rewarded and bad shots are seriously punished. The view from the #10 tee is truly breathtaking. This course is very unique and if you're traveling on the PA Turnpike, it's very convenient.

The front nine is very hilly and tree lined and is called the "mine nine" as iron ore was mined there and used in the Revolutionary War. The back nine, called the "tailings nine" because remnants of the mining process were dumped there, opens up much more so than the front and the elevation changes more modest. There are two big lakes, one on each nine. The routing, IMO, is pretty darn good, conditions were excellent for this late in the summer, and rates were unbelieveably low for the quality of the layout.
