Inverrary used to be the PGA tour stop in the mid-70's, and lost out to some of the more higher profile and newer designs, but the course is still solid. It's near the I-95/Oakland Park Blvd exit, and convenient to most of the S Florida area. There's two courses here, both designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr, and prices vary wildly depending on the season. The East Course is the former tournament course, and it longest, and most difficult. The course is kept in good condition always, and has mostly large, rolling greens, lots of bunkers and water, and plays to 7112 yards, 128 slope from the back tees. There's plenty of room off the tee, but it's the approach shot where most of the challenge is. The par threes are interesting due to the surrounding water, bunkers, and distance-all over 200 from the back tees. The West course is the shorter of the two, but has over 100 sand bunkers and 9 holes with water in play. The layout is a classic with tree-lined fairways, playing to slightly raised and well bunkered green s which are quick, true rolling and mildly undulating. The fairways are resort style wide, but framed by traps and tees, so course management is a plus if you have it! Course condition is outstanding, service is good, the environment feels a little "old Florida" with the condos bordering the course.
