The course is located on the southwest side of Jacksonville, south of I-10 and east of I-295. It's an old muni, but if you're a Donald Ross devotee, this is one of your shrines. The Jacksonville Open was held here in the 40's and 50's with Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson walking the fairways. It can be slow, and sometimes during the dry season not in the best of shape, but for a Ross original, it is a remaining artifact. The course plays to 6468 yards and 124 slope from all the way back, and features all of Ross's precepts on course design. Make each golf hole present a different problem. Arrange the course so that every stroke must be made with a full concentration and attention necessary to good golf. Build each hole in such a manner that it wastes none of the ground at one's disposal and takes advantage of every possibility. It doesn't disappoint, only the pace of play will!.
