You're not likely to be in Newfoundland on a golf trip, I was lucky enough to be there on business in the summer and brought my clubs, having heard of this great course. It is located on the western end of Newfoundland, and was designed by the Canadian architect Doug Carrick..The course is the centerpiece of a vacation real estate and resort development. The setting and environment appears untouched, in the Humber River Valley, surrounded by a mountain range. There's good elevation change throughout the course, and the course, as many mountain courses, awards accuracy, not distance. The fairways tend to be wide enough, save the occasional bunker or water hazard coming into play.to the moderate sized and speed greens with a little undulation. The course is good fun, never boring, plenty of different challenges with each hole unique. There's the 10th hole tee shot that's got to be 200 feet above the fairway, which rewards the long straight drive. The back nine plays downhill all nine holes which is somewhat of a relief.

Was up to play this summer, and a short summer it is in Newfoundland! Spectacular setting, one of Carrick's best designs I've had the pleasure to play. Steep terrain, spectacular shot values, Great views throughout, a very scenic setting,. The golf course is big and harry, huge bunkering, Great uphill and the better, downhill holes, #10 has a drop of at least 200 feet from tee to the landing zones, just a trip to blast the driver from here. Overall great fun, no problem in saying this is the best course in Newfoundland!
