Highlander is set up on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River in East Wenatchee on the east side of town on 8th St. The course opened in 2002 and was designed by John Steidel, 6,466 yards from the tips, it's a bit like a links golf course. We played from the White tees at just about 6,000 yards, 68.7/119, and it was a good challenge. Wide open style of layout with mounding, contoured fairways, and pot bunkers covering the course. The views are stunning over the river valley, you're sitting 800' above the river! The course penalizes adequately if you are errant off the tee in the form of blind shots into greens where elevation changes come into play. While it's a wide open layout and you feel free to rip it off the tee, it's really a strategic layout where placement for the next shot is key. The course was in great shape when we played it. Rates on their website were over $50, we used GolfNow and played for $30!
