Heron Point is one of the newer courses on Hilton Head, opening in 2007, and designed by Pete Dye, and replaced the old Sea Marsh Course. The layout has 6 sets of tees, we played from the 6,625 yards, 70.4/127 ratings. It was a refreshing change to Harbour Town, much more forgiving, less penal, and you have a chance to post some low scores here, depending on the tees you select. It's fairly wide open off the tee, the fairways are mounded, contoured, and undulating, so you rarely have a totally flat lie. The greens are small, there's an emphasis on the collection areas around the greens, and you can get up and down if your short game is reasonably good. There's a good amount of water in play, a lot of waste bunkers, but in both cases you need to be really off line to find either. The front side is a nice warm-up to the more challenging back side, and you'll enjoy the 18th, a big dogleg with water on the left, taking off as much as you can bear. Very well conditioned, and excellent service, would highly recommend.

What an excellent course. Absolutely loved it, a number of different challenges. The course was in excellent condition and the greens although tricky were first class. Members and staff were both friendly and helpful and I would recommend it to anyone.Looking forward to facing its challenges at some future stage. Value For Money: Good
