Two courses here at Headfort, the Old Course, and the New. The Old Course is one of the better examples of a long established, mature challenge with its large selection of trees lining the fairways, and greens to die for! It criss-crosses the River Blackwater makes use of two islands. The New course was designed by Christy O'Connor Jr. and plays to 6,515 metres. All your golfing skills will be fully tested by this layout, and the streams, lakes, islands, bridges, and mature trees surrounding the layout. All in all I’d play it ahead of the K Club or Mount Juliet, because it is tough, beautiful and fun. After lunch I played the Old Course with the kind of reputation and pedigree that all young parkland courses must aspire to. It has a character and feel to it that will please you all day without matching the pace, or the difficulty of the New Course. Played both for 70€!
