Hawk’s Landing is 30 minutes south of Hartford, off I-84 at Exit 32. The course is routed through a residential development, but the homes are mostly screened by the tree lined fairways. It has to be one of the shortest regulation courses you will play at 5,825 from the tips, but before you judge it as too short, none of the par-3’s plays less than 180 yards from the tips, with two playing over 225 yards. The par fours on the other hand are short, all less than 360 yards. All of the holes are tree lined, and somewhat narrow off the tee, no real need for driver here. The greens are well maintained, minimal undulation and moderate speed. The fairways are in good shape but the rough is inconsistent. The course has a small bar and grill where you can get a hot dog and a beer at a reasonable price. From the back tees, the course rating is 68.6, the slope 124, you'll be lucky to shoot your handicap here unless you're spot on with your tee ball. It was designed by Geoffrey Cornish, who's know for some quality courses, mostly in the northeast, but apparently the developers didn't provide enough room here. Conditions are generally good, rates are reasonable, and you can get in a fairly quick round here since it's so short.

The greens were absolutely terrible. I feel it is ridiculous when you pay to pay this kind of money and have to putt through bare dirt and sand spots on the greens.
