The original 18 at Hankerd Hills dates back to 1928 and was designed by John Wilcox. Holes 10-18 were re-designed in 1996 by John Schmid after 19-27 was added in 1991 by W. Bruce Matthews III. Any combination of nines makes a nice test without being overly penal (1-18 - 6,426 yards, 67.8/127 rating; 10-27 - 6,131 yards, 66.6/125 rating; 19-9 - 6,023, 69.2/122 rating).
As the name implies, the course rolls over several hills with good effect. Several ponds and streams come into play. While driving areas are typically generous, many holes are lined by forested areas that will frustrate the golfer when a wayward shot is made.
Green complexes are small to moderate in size and not too heavily bunkered. Green speeds are not especially speedy and the surfaces tend to not be overly canted or sloped.
Located north of Jackson and well west of the Detroit metro area, access is from I-94. Take 106N to E. Berry Road. Go west to N. Hankerd Road which leads to the course.
