The Greenville CC is an old, established private golf club on the south side of Greenville on Highway 1 South. While it's a private club, we found that you can contact the pro shop in advance and arrange a round here at a reasonable greens fee. It's a much better layout and experience than the muni course in town from what we were told. The layout is over flat land, and easily walkable. It's been around since the mid-1950's, and probably hasn't changed all that much, which was refreshing. The fairways are tree lined, but not so thick that you can't recover from an off-line shot. There's a little water and sand, but the course's main defense is the small, perched greens. The course was designed by Tom Lundy, plays to 6,500+ yards from the back tees, we played from the blue tees at 6,394 yards, 70.4/121 course and slope ratings, and found it to be a good challenge, but overall playable.
