Green Hills is on the northeast side of Mount Vernon, just north of the airport on Fairfield Road. The course is our favorite in the Mount Vernon area with consistently better conditions, and a more interesting layout than the other options. It's been around since the late 1920's, but has been updated and well maintained over the years. The layout is mostly of fairly tight tree lined fairways, playing to almost 6,700 yards from the tips with a 134 slope, 6,200 yards from the white tees, 126 slope, so it's no pushover. To play well here requires accurate tee balls to avoid the corridors of trees, and a spot-on short game. It's walkable, but there is some change in elevation. Plenty of challenge with the trees, lakes, streams, and some bunkering, you'll do well to shoot your normal round here.
