Jack Nicklaus-designed Great Waters, and it opened in 1992, and is likely the top course here. If you're only playing one course at Reynolds, this would be it. It plays to 6,581 yards from the blue tees, 73.6 course rating, and a 133 slope, and is one of the more scenic courses you'll ever play. The front side is parkland style through the dense trees with some elevation change, while all of the back's holes run along Lake Oconee. Forgiving off the tee, the second shots, to the green, or for placement on the par 5's are where the real challenge is. Once you do get on the greens, they're very fast and with good undulation. .A couple of good risk/reward holes, very challenging overall. Excellent conditioning, expensive, but Reynolds Plantation is first class all the way.

Fantastic layout. Best of the Reynold's courses. Converted to Bermuda greens a couple of years ago. Unbelievable surfaces and very true, but fast!!! Played the Oconee and Plantation courses on same trip. They are bent grass and were terrible surfaces due to high temperatures, etc. Very bumpy and unpredictable. Consistently good service from golf and resort staff. Decent value at summer rates of $175 per round.

Probably one of the more beautiful courses I've played, definitely in Georgia. Pace of play was tolerable at 4.5 hours, overall friendly design, resort style for the most part and forgiving. For a Nicklaus design, it was easily the most friendly course I've played of his The greens had recently been punched, but were growing in nicely, and ran well, and the holes along Lake Oconee were spectacular. My only gripe about the course was the expense to play it.
