The course was designed by Raymond Hearn, is located just outside Jackson, and plays to a total of 7157 yards, and 147 slope from the tips, a tough course. It's a northern Michigan type course located in southern Michigan. The course is on 400 acres and routed through marsh wetlands, forests, The course has some significant elevation changes of more than 100 feet, and 10 of the 18 greens are multi-tiered, and huge...being on the greens here's a bit overrated. The fairways and greens are in great condition and enjoyable to play and it was a fun and interesting design. Some of the fairways are more than 100 yards wide, but the course's main defense is mostly on the approach to the greens. Very well conditioned, reasonable green fees, about 30 minutes west of Ann Arbor.

Played June 12, 2011. The course has a very interesting layout. No holes border each other so one rarely sees a player from another hole. The front nine is considerably more benign than the back so get your scoring done early. The two par 5's on the back play hop scotch over hazards so if you can't routinely carry a shot 190+ yards consider playing the "White" or "Gold" tees. A laser or GPS is a real assist in figuring out distances and carries. The greens are huge as the reviewer stated. As such, sometimes the pin setter can't help himself and places a few holes in some pretty tough spots. The putting surfaces roll very well. On the back, the designer really liked bunkers and hazards in the middle of the fairway. Personally, it was overdone but there are probably those that like it. Once upon a time, one had to pay $50+ to play here. Now there are all sorts of online deals and specials. We played Sunday at noon, including a bucket of range balls, for $25 each. They have a grass range and lots of practice putting, chipping and bunker areas.
