Grand Geneva Resort has two golf courses, the Brute, and the Highlands. It's just on the north side of Lake Geneva off US 12, and is about 1 1/2 hours from Chicago, depending on where you are. It's a nice quality resort, spa, convention center with updated hotel rooms, excellent service, and nice restaurants on the grounds. the golf wasn't bad either! The Brute lives up to its name, challenging, not a hole to relax on, elevation change, well bunkered, huge greens, and very interesting holes. From the tips, the course is just over 7,000 yards, 136 slope, but has four other sets of tees, and was designed by Robert Bruce Harris. The Highlands was a Pete Dye/Jack Nicklaus collaboration from 1970 that had some redesign work by Bob Cupp in the late 1990's. The course is shorter at around 6,600 yards, 125 slope from the back tees, and is a lot more gentle on your game than the Brute. It's more of an open and links-style of layout, but with some water hazards, trees lined with tall heather grasses and well bunkered. They offer a fairly low rate, just over $100 to play both courses in the same day, not a bad deal, especially for two such different type of courses. Overall, very well care for course conditions, facilities and service were top notch.

Played the Brute, ridiculously tough, and merciless, but I loved it, have to return for another shot at it. Excellent conditions, pace of play was super, no one on the course in front of us all day. A little expensive, buy hey I still have my job so far!
