Grand Elk is about 2 hours northwest of Denver in Granby. It's a Craig Stadler/Tripp Davis design from 2002. They call it a heathland design, which is essentially a links-style layout without an ocean nearby. It's routed through wetlands and prairie land, with five sets of tees from 5000 to 7100 yards mostly wide open off the tee with open approaches to big greens. It was originally intended to be a private club, but is open to public play. There's a few homes which have been built on the course, but it's mostly wide open and natural corridors lining the holes. Strong and challenging layout, maybe the best in the Granby area, the Blue tees are 6,662 yards, 71.2/127 ratings. Always in great shape when we've played, green fees a little steep, but they do use GolfNow through Forelinksters.
